Through the combined efforts of USA Swimming, USA Swimming Officials, dedicated SwimMAC Coaches and volunteers, talented athletes, and corporate sponsors this meet has grown exponentially in attendance and expectations.
Over the last 29 years The SwimMAC Charlotte Grand Prix has been privileged to host more than 10,000 athletes, including more than 130 Olympians, and more than 50 Olympic Gold Medalist. “Madam Butterfly” Mary T. Meagher, was the first Olympic Gold Medalist to race here in 1988, and since then some of swimming’s most recognizable names have challenged Charlotte’s waters: Gary Hall Jr., Janet Evans, Pablo Morales, Summer Sanders, Ryan Lochte, Katie Hoff, Dara Torres, Natalie Coughlin, Aaron Piersol, and Michael Phelps, just to name a few. Accompanying these athletes come the world’s greatest coaches, and today, unparalleled media coverage, which our sport has earned.

Over the years, the sport of swimming has achieved a new level of visibility, especially since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with a growing enthusiastic fan base. With this growth and the notoriety of its athletes the USA Swimming Grand Prix Series of competitions, once thought of as mere swim meets, have become true Sporting Events, and SwimMAC is proud to be home to one of the longest standing Grand Prix Meets, The SwimMAC Charlotte Grand Prix.
